Elwick Place Macknade offers a dining experience, bar and delicatessen. It’s the go-to spot to enjoy freshly prepared produce with rich provenance for breakfast and lunch, and dinner delivered in a relaxed and communal environment.

Their shelves are also filled with all your larder essentials and the specialist ingredients you need to make delicious dishes at home. From fresh bread & milk to their iconic olive oil, choose from a selection of groceries produced right their on their Kentish doorstep and from a little further afield.

Stock up on fruit & vegetables and fresh meat from their butchers or explore their delicatessen, which is home to a fantastic selection of local & international cheese & charcuterie – perfect for a delicious picnic platter.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, Macknade is not open for din in, but you can still stop by and shop for your groceries safely in their spacious store here at Elwick Place, with parking directly outside.

Coronavirus Update

Macknade aim to make sure that everyone shopping and working with them feel comfortable and safe to do so. With this in mind, please see the steps they are taking to ensure their store remains safe:

  • A maximum number of customers in the shop will allow the team and customers to observe social distancing. Macknade have created a queue system outside to manage this
  • All Macknade staff have access to hand washing facilities and are encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly and often
  • Macknade have hand sanitiser readily available across their store, which is also required upon entry
  • Macknade have guides on the floor to ensure everyone is aware of their space, especially when queuing and shopping from their counters
  • All trollies and baskets are disinfected after each use
  • Macknade are currently operating a reduced number of tills to allow staff to maintain a safe distance between one another
  • Macknade have re-arranged the layout to ensure you have a seamless & safe shopping experience
  • Macknade encourage credit or debit card at the tills and contactless wherever possible
  • All staff have been given the opportunity to wear masks and gloves
  • Macknade staff have daily COVID-19 briefings to ensure their team remain vigilant, even as restrictions lift
  • Macknade are constantly assessing government guidance, as well as working with several key partners in Kent share best practice, including Produced in Kent, Visit Kent, Locate in Kent, the Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses
  • Macknade have instigated a full delivery & collections service for anyone who is self-isolating or would prefer not to visit the shop. Orders can be placed via their website here.
  • Macknade delivery drivers have sanitiser, masks and gloves on every vehicle.
  • Deliveries & collections are both contactless. Macknade delivery drivers will leave all produce in a safe place, which we will agree with you over the phone.

Snap Fitness - Closed until further notice


Snap Fitness is currently CLOSED.

Club users have access to state of the art Matrix Fitness cardio and weight training kit. Alongside the ability to come and workout whenever suits you, a team of fitness instructors are on hand to offer advice, run a variety of classes and work alongside members in personal training sessions during staffed hours.

Coronavirus Update

  • Snap Fitness will be thoroughly cleaned at a minimum of 3 x daily, Morning, Midday and Evening.
  • Although it is not required by the government Snap Fitness abides by the recommended guidance published by Sport England when designing its heating, cooling and ventilation systems. This means proper ventilation of second-hand air and the introduction of fresh air all into your training spaces.
  • Snap Fitness have created safe distancing zones in their key high traffic areas such as; reception, locker areas and other high frequency areas. You will find clear markings outlining recommended routes and 2m space distances to ensure that members can easily abide by the social distancing recommendations.
  • Where possible they have arranged equipment in a way that makes it easier to ensure social distancing is kept throughout the club either through spacing of equipment or removing use of some items.
  • At Snap Fitness they have always had capacity limits on the number of members a club has, because they believe that their members should have unrestricted access to equipment without crowds. As an added safety precaution they will be capping the number of members that can be in the club at a time.
  • Snap Fitness will be temporarily introducing a booking system, to avoid crowds and ensure controlled social distancing. Please download their app here.

Unita 4



At Unita 4, they’re all about hand-rolled, fresh pasta! The menus come from Chef and Restaurateur Damiano Vecchio, who is passionate about creating delicious, freshly made pasta dishes and authentic pizzas for a very reasonable price. Their aim is to create an enjoyable destination, a place where families, friends and colleagues come together through their love of fresh pasta.

The pasta room offers you a chance to see the chefs turn freshly made dough into beautifully designed pasta. This room will also be an interactive space offering fresh pasta making classes to small groups.

Combining a tapas lounge, cosmopolitan bar and full service dining, Dansaki will serve an exquisite range of Afro-Caribbean and continental cuisine in a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Ashford Picturehouse - Closed until further notice


Ashford Picturehouse introduces a unique Cinema experience to the borough of Ashford. Continuing the Picturehouse legacy of bringing quality blockbusters, art-house film and regular and diverse programming strands.

Ashford Picturehouse features a spacious foyer and outdoor and indoor seating. A large auditorium is available for affordable private hires and community functions in a relaxed and stylish space. Picturehouse takes pride in serving delicious hot food, an extensive drink menu, indulgent treats and healthy snacks, making the cinema a perfect spot for food, film and socialising.

The cinema has six screens, half of which are capable of screening 3D titles. Ashford Picturehouse is also the first Picturehouse Cinema to have a laser projector. This uses the latest digital cinema technology and is more energy efficient than traditional projectors.

The cinema is fully wheelchair accessible with a lift and disabled parking bays. Every screen will have an infrared system to play audio-described tracks (when available). This offers voice commentary, through headphones provided, which describes the film to those who would benefit.

Carefully curated regular strands include Discover Tuesdays, Vintage Sundays and Screen Arts, which will bring the best of live theatre from around the world to Ashford. The cinema will also host a range of community-focused, price-adjusted events including Big Scream, Toddler Time, free Student Screenings with E4 Slackers Club, Autism-Friendly, Dementia-Friendly and Silver Screen.

It’s with great sadness that Picturehouse, Elwick Place will be temporarily closing all cinemas from Friday 9 October.

At present there is no set date for re-opening, however they will continue to monitor the situation closely and will communicate any updates once film studios are able to bring their major film releases back to the big screen. They will also continue to follow government and health authority guidelines to ensure that upon reopening, the health and safety of our staff and customers remains their priority.

Coronavirus Update

What safety precautions have Picturehouse put in place? As always, the health and wellbeing of their employees and customers is their number one priority. In light of the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and government advice, Picturehouse has put a number of safety measures in place which will allow them to provide a safe environment for their employees and customers. This includes:

  • A social distancing plan has been carefully prepared.  All aspects of the venue have been taken into consideration.
  • Film screenings will have staggered start times to allow for safe entry and exit of the cinema.
  • Picturehouse are implementing new allocated seating in their screens to ensure a safe distance between customers from different households.
  • Hand sanitiser stations have been set up for customers and employees to use.
  • Their already high cleaning standards will be enhanced by a further cleaning programme designed to clean and sanitise the high touch points within the cinema.  This will be undertaken by a trained team.
  • All employees will receive specific COVID-19 training and PPE will be provided to where the risk assessment has deemed it necessary, in line with government requirements.
  • Picturehouse have added protective screens at their kiosk areas where social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Contactless payments are encouraged.
