Matches Sports Bar, Elwick Place’s ultimate sporting destination, is proud to announce the launch of a new Bunt Chef Burger on November 18th with a commitment to donate £1 from each sale in support of the Burnt Chef Project.
Matches, who already support the mental health of their customers by offering a variety of social activities such as shuffleboard, darts and live entertainment, recognise the need to raise awareness and help their staff look after their mental health and be aware of the signs of burnout.
Following their successful fundraiser for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) in April 2024, raising an impressive £1,416.55, Matches are taking on a new fundraising project that sits closely to their hearts and their industry.
The Burnt Chef Project provides international support, education and resources for staff working in the hospitality industry with their mental health. The project was founded in 2019 by Kris Hall after he saw first-hand the mental health struggles that his friends and clients in the industry were facing. Over 6,400 people have been reached and supported by their project already and now, with 4 out of 5 industry professionals facing mental health challenges, this is more important than ever before. The hospitality industry has one of the highest rates of mental health issues and the Burnt Chef Project aims to tackle this by providing free-to-access support and resources.
Jodie Higgins, Matches’ general manager comments: ‘We believe there is no better time to step up, support our team, and raise awareness to reach and help as many people as possible. Supporting The Burnt Chef Project is about investing in the mental health and well-being of our industry’s most valuable asset – its people. By partnering with this initiative, we are committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health in hospitality, creating a culture that values balance, resilience, and genuine care. Together we’re building a stronger, healthier industry.’
Join Matches from November 18th to enjoy the new Burnt Chef Burger created by Matches Chefs, Chris and Darren, and support a case that matters. Help make a difference for those who need it most.
