The crisp winter morning of December 15, 2018 saw Elwick Place officially opened by Mayor Cllr Mrs Jessamy Blanford,
assisted by five-year old Ashfordian Henry Rowles, at a celebratory event attended by Cllr Gerry Clarkson, Leader of Ashford Borough Council, the Rt Hon Damian Green, MP for Ashford, and Gary Bourne, Development Director for development partner Stanhope PLC.
“This development is leading the way in reshaping Ashford’s skyline and is a huge source of pride for myself, the Borough Council and the people of Ashford. The official opening also marked the unveiling of the restored Cattle Market Gate Posts and Strange Cargo’s artwork installation: The Elwick Etchings, and followed the unveiling of The Queen Marie of Romania Statue. Live music was provided by the Folkestone Community Swing Band.
